U.S. markets are closed today. Aside from tomorrow’s scheduled half day of trading in the stock market, most U.S. markets will remain closed until Monday morning. We get to enjoy a long holiday weekend courtesy of President Abraham Lincoln who in 1863 set aside the last Thursday of November “as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.” FDR had Congress change Thanksgiving to the present 4th Thursday of November.
