When I learned about stamens and pistils and pollination somewhere in my schooling years, I don't recall it as a vibrant and energetic moment of being spellbound with attention.
But we should pay attention - lots of attention; it's only our food supply that's at stake. The Naked Shorts blog does a great job of highlighting the issue.
