The Thomson/Reuters Combo Is Pretty Much a Done Deal

A variety of publications are reporting that the Reuters Founders Share Co., is throwing its support behind a buyout of Reuters (RTRSY) by Thomson (TOC): Reuters trustees set to back Thomson bid - paper. The combination of Thomson and Reuters will certainly provoke intense competition with Bloomberg LP (BLP). Ultimately, Thomson and Reuters will need to come up with a better product than the Bloomberg Terminal to which I say 'good luck' to Thomson because it won't be an easy task. Reuters had a 130 year head start on Bloomberg and here we are seeing it swallowed up because it failed so miserably in the last 7 years to overcome BLP - simply amazing.
