Quick Morning Market Comment

Brief this morning, since I have morning appointments to get to...

We've managed to dodge the inflation bullet once again, as the CPI core came in as expected with a gain of .2%. CPI news is welcomed.

As noted over the weekend, the Thomson (TOC) buyout of Reuters (RTRSY) is pretty much a done deal, though regulatory scrutiny may cause troubles for the two: Reuters backs buyout bid.

Wal Mart - no snack bar hot dogs for me. Wal-Mart Issues Warning on Profits. Yesterday's buying of WMT May 50 calls makes sense when you realize that so much money is sloshing around in the markert that folks will throw money at anything for a long shot winning bet.

How low will Amgen (AMGN) go? Ahead of the Bell: Amgen Falls.
